Passion for life
I believe that each human being should have the maximum of possibilities to live a Life of dignity, freedom and (self-)respect.
The basic needs of providing people with the right amount (and good quality) of food, the necessary education to become independent, a roof above the head (that is more than a piece of cardboard), necessary levels of health, and true security and safety should be the standard for everyone on this planet.
I want to top that with a minimum of culture.
As long as we don’t take responsibility to question, disrupt and eradicate the existing inequalities between the ultra poor and rich, we don’t respect humanity.
I don’t stop explaining, even during business meetings, that it’s no longer acceptable that there is one hemisphere that has almost all, and another one that has almost nothing. With one hemisphere stealing the resources from the other.
It’s unacceptable that we keep disrespecting mother Earth, and keep sawing off the branch of the tree we’re sitting on.
Hundreds of millions of human beings have little food, bad quality of nourishment or starve to death. While hundreds of millions are obese. While close to half of the food that is produced or processed is thrown away.
I no longer want to accept that dictators take freedom of speech, expression, and action away from ‘their’ people. And cut all the free media out of the media landscape.
Politicians have a moral duty to work for the next generations and not their next election. Those who fail to come with long term approaches should not be politicians.
Working shouldn’t be a modern form of slavery, but a way to self-actualize, to become a better, more complete version of oneself. Hence enterprises and organizations should become ecosystems of human evolution, in connection with the chosen noble purpose the organization stands for.
Through many of the projects I initiate(d) and am involved in, and through my several actions, I want to bring awareness about humanity, and appetite for action to change the existing paradigms.
Relevance of Values
In order to be(come) a humanist, it’s important to be driven by pure values. I want to know what the values are of those who impact us. Because values are a matter of the heart, not of the brain. They drive our behavior. Values are aspirational, positive and highly connected with whom we became.
It’s through showing who we are that we can create deep connection.
As I work a lot on a very deep level with individual high impact leaders, top teams and complex organizations, I find it key that they know who I am and what I stand for.
